The fight inside of us
Ever
wonder why some people are happy and positive while others are bitter, angry and
overall negative?
We may believe it’s in their genes to be either happy or sad, positive or
negative or it may be just a simple decision.
The following story pretty much puts it all in perspective :
An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life.
He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me, it is a terrible fight and it
is between two wolves.
One wolf is evil---he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance,
self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition,
superiority, and ego.
The other is good ---he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and
faith.
This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too."
They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?" The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
It is up to us to decide how we are going to live our lives. Are we going to be
full of anger, envy, greed or are we going to be pleasant.
Each one of us knows of one person that we hate to be around. A person so full
of anger that his or her negative venoms will affect you. We also know people
whose simple smile can uplift our spirit in bad moments.
It is a conscious decision on everyone part to feed the wolf in us. The wolf you
decide to feed will live and the one you neglect will die.
Here’s hoping that we chose to feed the good wolf.
